NIGHTSTAR vs I AM NOT STARFIRE
CHAPTER 1: Designs
Okay, let's begin with this.
Mandy
I have NO problem with a fat character. I am definitely not fatphobic, so anyone worried about that, don't worry, hehe <3
My problem with her design... is that she DOESN'T look like Starfire's daughter. Not her skin, not her eyes, not the SHAPE of her eyes, not her nose, her hair (her natural hair neither), NOTHING. I don't buy that the only thing that stick on her genetics was the hair and the eye colors. The color hair doesn't help, cause it looks even more unnatural than her dyed hair. Whenever I see Starfire and Mandy on the same panel, either arguing or just being, I feel the self-insert of the author, which makes me feel a bit uncomfortable...
And I'm not even talking about Mandy not looking like the og Starfire, I mean, not even the comic's Starfire:
The style was ok. It wasn't the best, but considering it was a YA novel, it fits fine.
(BUT, OK, IDC IN WHAT STYLE YOU DRAW HIM, WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE... THAT????
YES, THE BUTTCHEEKS, WHAT'S UP WITH THAT 😭😭😭?)
Nightstar
What can I say about Nightstar that isn't just... perfect???
She's a perfect combination of both her parents. Starfire's skin was yellow, and Nightwing was melon color (white human color). She was a perfect mix. Hers was a human color, unlike her mother's, but still had the hues of her mother's skin. Kingdom come as proof:
Another thing. Yes, her eyes ARE green like her mom's, but they're tire like her dad's. And her nose isn't exactly like her mom's. Her mom's is button type, while hers is between snub and Nubian, which is the perfect center between her mom's and dad's type of nose. And maybe the cherry on top are the eyebrows (daddy's eyebrows)
I don't know how to explain to you how she's so alike her mom, but still has her dad's features (AND LOTS) which I find perfect. That's why Nightstar is the perfect design for a dickkory child.
POINTS: NIGHTSTAR - 1 ; I AM NOT STARFIRE - 0

so my thoughts on obey me as someone whos completed both games and played for maybe 4 years
Things I liked:
I always enjoyed that every character is unique in personality and design and that everyone is datable so there Arnt any routes. I loved seasons 1-3 of the og game, I always look fondly on season 3 though because of how it took place in the human world, was more domestic and we got nice lore drops that didn't feel shoved in. I liked the stakes of season 1 and 2 so but id have to say season 2 is my second favorite because of how it expanded more on the first season. I do wish there was a little more worldbuilding and consistency, but I'm not too pressed about it since it does leave things open ended enough for the fandom to exist creatively in.
Season 2 of nightbringer was also good up until the end, which is where my grievances start appearing.
Things I didnt like
There was a LOT retconning in Nightbringer, which made things so confusing that I just disregard most of it as non-canon if they dont fit with what I had imagined in the first game. My two biggest peeves though are
1.) The focus on forgiving the celestial realm/ their father).
-It felt really weird how hard they were pushing the idea that the celestial realm wasn't that bad and disregarding how oppressive it was and how their father literally tried to execute their sister. I understand missing the realm (it was their home after all) and any angel living there being good people, but I'm definitely not okay with forgiving their father (god?). That guy is abusive asf, if there was ever a villain of the story, it has always been that guy. I wish I could have seen more of the characters talk about their familial (religious) trauma and not exclusively Lucifer or Simeon (which was already rare enough and the retconned at the very end).
2.) The lack of a overall plot.
-We started the story with the goal of being the one to master them all, as well as achieving Diavolo's goal of bringing peace to the 3 realms. Problem is that we never got there. The celstial realm is still oppressed, I dont even think the majority of the human world knows demon and angels exist, nor do anyone who knows seems very interested in peace. Diavolo is still the crown prince (which is fine I guess) and we never got to meet Michael. Luke still dosent seem to understand the prejudices of the Celestial Realm and we still dont know much about Solomons past, eg: who was his first aprentice, how did he meet Barb, how did he fight all of the Devildom, what was his time like as king, his family.
We never actually made any big changes, and now the games over.
Miscellaneous thoughts I have:
Don't like the same gag being used excessively for the same characters
I wish I could have seen Satans birthmark :/ its on his back
I would have liked to know more about what happened during the war, but it probably might have been too drab for the game
I think Simeons arc of not being an angel should have just left him a human
The sibling interactions in the game are hilarious
Wish there were more characters, even briefly, the cast feels a little lonely :(
The mc is perfect
Okay okay! First thank you for asking dear! 💕
Now, I'm about to yap my head off so get ready lol.
Now I too love the characters I have such a soft spot for them all especially since I found the game right when covid happened and I had to be inside all the time so the game is such a comfort thing for me. I love the designs but Satan's sweater is fucking annoying ngl but other than that no complaints! I also loved that Obey me! allowed us to date everyone but I remembered people being upset about there being no routes so I'll probably have a lot of routes so people can just pick, "do I want a harem?" "Do I wanna only be with 1,2,3,4,5,7 of them?" Ya get the point!
I truthfully haven't moved past season 3 so everything I know about both that and Nightbringer is from media or my friends but I do in fact also love 2 and parts of season 3 I feel like they were just so cute cause everyone was still figuring out their feelings and it gave us more info on how everything was going on after we left and stuff and season 3 is so domestic in the human world (also how did they get a place like I know they are the top 1% in the Devildom and it's said they can persuade humans, ➖ Mc, sorcerers and witches. But like come seriously?! How!?) I love seeing them all interact cause it's so cute and funny.
I agree the world building definitely needs to be expanded on and more fleshed out we only go to a few different places and when we do it's like we were the only people there lol, no I interactions with anyone outside the cast fr.
Again I haven't played Nightbringer I will now that I plan on writing but Irdgaf in the beginning cause everyone was like "ehhhh" "why's there need to be another game??" "Tf?" So I decided to just kinda ignore it especially since people said they didn't really like it and as you said didn't agree with where it was going so I'll talk more on that when I subject myself to that.
O.M.G
You have no idea how much this rattles me! WHY DO THEY NEED TO FORGIVE THEIR FATHER IN THE FIRST PLACE?! Like I was always annoyed by that. I mean their Dad fucking killed their little sister and exiled the brothers I mean lookkkkkkk
Got this from @flemmingbamse btw so thank you!!! 💕

They literally were exiled from their home and were forced to become a whole other species and they lost their wings/had their wings changed completely. Lucifer gave fucking birth from his back apparently which is how we get Satan and Satan is obviously wearing Lucifer's 2 lost wings and I mean imagine your so fucking pissed you have a god damn child from your anger. Like apagejsjakaopahaiqkqh. Their status in heaven? Gone. Family? Besides each other, Gone. Lilith? Dead. Their home? Not their home anymore. Anyone else they love, who fr weren't a real one low-key. (Kinda looking at Simeon but it's obvious he regrets it so I'm blinking slowly) BUT Raphael? Michael? Actually I don't think Michael is god. God is god. Michael is a seraphim. So they are the children of God or Seraphim? Either way, BULLSHIT! everyone turned their backs on them. And that war I think it's a testament to how strong they are cause they went against ALL of heaven and still held their own granted they lost but they were against ALL of heaven and I think they only really lost cause of Lilith being hit by an arrow and Lucifer giving birth. (Still can't get over that). And I mean they got punished from heaven to hell, literally. So they are still being punished? Does Michael wanna be forgiven or not? Bitch ass fr. NO SYMPATHY.
I will come back to this but the Brothers definitely have religious trauma and I think that Simone started realizing that right before the war was happening when he had to fight Lucifer and saw he was on opposite sides of the battle filed and it's obvious he regrets it and wishes he fought on their side. I think it's a tell tale with how Luke acts and angles are told that God is great and Michael is great and everything they do is right. I mean look at how Luke admires- no, idolizes Michael. I think whenever he brings up Michael the brothers get really quiet and just nod along to just get him to shut up. I think there is super manipulation going on in heaven and only the higher angles, archangel and seraphim are aware of what is going on but not ALWAYS aware which is how Simone got started to officially realize just how wrong Michael's mindset is and started to oppose it silently and when he started getting louder and started falling for Mc this God and Michael got mad (idk fr its a thought tho). But I don't think heaven is it fr.
Now on the lack of plot everything did feel everywhere some times like some things we're just happening just cause and I feel like Dia's dream was kinda side tracked and after Mc got pacts things were just kinda happening lol. Ngl I think Michael's bitch. Not sure if y'all could tell but yeah. Still I'd like to know more about him too. Now Solomon the shady sorcerer we know and love. Now I heard some people say that they think he was Lilith's lover, the one who she and is the whole reason the war happened, fell in love with and tried to save with a potion which is why Solomon has lived so long. But I'm not too sure about that cause other sorcerers and witches also live super long probably because they are more than likely taking potions or casting spells and he'd probably do that too cause he's one of the great sorcerers and I think it was said that it was another guy Lilith was with but I don't remember. Also irrelevant but, It's said that man got like 300 wives or some shit so he's a whor- Truthfully, I need to think about him a bit more cause I feel like I could say anything about him for real cause that mf is SHADY! lol but I think Asmo would be a bit easy for him to get a pact with since, well, he's Asmo, and I mean look at their relationship. but Asmo did also give the Mc a hard time when they were trying to get his pact so idk. BUT what I wanna know is how that mf got Barbatos to get in a pact with him CAUSE I KNOW THAT MF HATE THAT SHADY OLD MAN I SWEAR- but it's obvious Babs has some sort of animosity towards Sol so I don't know what to think about that.
Hmmm I don't know exactly what you mean by gags but if you mean the same trope or joke being done I totally get that.
When Satan came out of Lucifer he took 2 of his wings with him. Satan has a birth mark on his back in the exact same spot Lucifer lost his wings and both the scar on Lucifer's back and Satan's birthmark look exactly the same.
Ngl I'mma flesh out that whole war and all those bitch ass angles fr. With all their eyes and shit and apparently can't see the BS right in front of em. ALSO there has been so many games/shows where angles are these fuckass manipulative oppressive hypocritical beings who are like kinda crazy and they throw a lot of religious trauma in there fr and I'm not mad at it. Also I think angle's true forms are ugly/scary (I don't know the feeling honestly) . Like uglier/scarier than the demon's true forms. Maybe that's just me. I don't know.
Simone....I'm not sure if I wanted him to be a human or demon but I definitely don't think he should have gone back to being an angel. There was no point in that and it could have helped emphasize how he loved the brothers and wanted to be with his brothers and he should have been in the first place on their side. It could have shown how he was learning just how wrong the war even happening in the first place was. Him going back to being an angel just, like for me at least, completely ruins that while plotline. It's stupid. I'm not sure which is better for him to be, demon or human, but he won't end an Angle that's for sure.
Yes as I said too lonely definitely needs more characters and will happily add them and will take any requests or oc's or anything. The mc is amazing lol
I'm happy to hear anyone's ideas and as always reblogs are loved and appreciated. I'd love anything anyone could give me! 🩷

hi everyone just wanted to drop by and show off the lego ninjago crochet dolls i made bc i think theyre very cutesie <3

the designs are based on the old designs bc i made these solely for my nostalgia's sake and i grew up with the og designs. more pics and my ramblings under the cut
lloyd garmadon!!

lloyd is my favourite so obvs he was the first one i made (you can tell by his unstuffed arms 💀). i was figuring things out with him but i am very attached to him. s4 is my favourite season and since lloyd is my fav ninja, i decided to give him the tournament of elements suit. what you'll notice is for a lot of these guys i just did random embroidery on their backs bc i couldnt be bothered to look for references of their backs.
jay walker!!

doing his eyebrow slit was so fun!! he's one of my favs for sure i think he turned out really good. sorry i'm a firm believer in light brown hair jay. he is not a ginger. he has light brown hair with ginger undertones.
nya!!

i struggled a lot with choosing which suit to do for nya bc i feel like her signature colour has changed sm but i wanted every doll to have their own distinct colour so i chose her grey one. it was probably a bad idea bc the embroidery was hell but i think she turned out cool!!
cole!!

he's def one of my favs of the dolls i think he turned out so cute. i love his thick eyebrows and his little smile i love him sm. honestly not much to say about him bc he was really easy to make (aside from the struggles of crocheting with black yarn)
zane!!

ZANES HAIR WAS AWFUL!! i had to try so many different techniques before i settled on this one and i do think it ended up looking okay. i mean, it at least looks how it looks in the show so i guess thats a win.
and finally kai!!

he is definitely my least favourite of the dolls. I JUST COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET HIS HAIR RIGHT. i don't think i ever did get his hair right. i think it's about as close as i could possibly get without doing a much more complex hair style with pieces i'd have to crochet and then stitch together. i think he looks fine! i like his lil smirk.
i'm very proud of them all and they took me a very long time to make. i really wanna make an achilles doll so that's probs my next project. there's a few greek mythology figures i wanna make, but achilles is my #1 so always him first <3
#i can’t stick to one fandom to save my life i have to talk about anything and everything#everyday you discover a new fandom i’m part of#imeda crochets!!#lego ninjago#lloyd garmadon#jay walker#cole#kai#nya#zane#crochet

Tried finding the post, however not gonna go digging so sorry if you mentioned it in the og post or another ask, but do you ever think you would do any redesigns for Hazbin? I know you made a joke post about it (which fair), but I always think it's a little fun seeing how other people might change the designs and how they come to any design decisions made. At the least, if you could choose one character for a design adjustment, who would it be if any?
honestly, i'm fine with all canon hazbin designs. All changes i make only because of my drawing style. The only real design change i made (for canon) is adding Alastor two dark hair strands lol
tbh, most hazbin redesigns annoy me, especially for Alastor. Especially when people make him gray and give him more animalistic features, or change his haircut. And when it's all together it's like. Who the fuck is this, give me back my red ahh radio demon with stupid ahh haircut. "he's gray because tv in his time was blah blah blah" TV?!! HES FUCKING R A D I O DEMON, NOT TV DEMON
uh, sorry, i'm not pointing at anyone, but it's the real thing ive seen.
as you can see, i dislike most redesigns for Alastor shgafhjshf/ I've seen like. 0 Alastor redesighns that i could look at and say "yes. this is still my boy". I've seen some good looking, yes, but it's not Alastor. Soo i doubt that i can make good redesign for canon Alastor that still would be him and not someone else. I'm fine with how he looks in canon. I'm even fine with hooves (although it would never be the design choice I'd make myself). And i'm fine with all other characters too.
I've seen 1 (one) good design for Vox. And nobody else. I've seen some charle and vaggie redesigns but mehhh (they all got these stupid animal legs with backwards knees ew) (i know those aren't knees but ankles but i don't care). And i don't think i've seen any Rosie redesigns.
I like the idea of Niffty having additional pair of arms tho
sorry if you felt offended by this. i'm not trying to tell anyone to stop making redesighns if you feel like it, i'm just saying that it's not my cup of tea. If you like redesigns and have yours, it's fine! Have fun with them as much as you want, i just don't want to be part of that.

It's Winter's insane rambling O'clock!
I just finished a game. For context, I've been trying a few Pokémon-esque games in the past months. The last two I finished are sagas called Nexomon and Nexomon Extinction, respectively.
And they have become my 2nd favorite monster-catching game (sorry, Pokémon is still 1st).
I like the story, the Mons all have fun designs, but the characters are what I like the most.
You have yourself, the standard protagonist, and a bunch of co-protagonists with various levels of screen time. But the second most important characters are the enemies, because you don't have a rival like in Pokémon, your adversaries are the legendary Mon of this game.
They all have various personalities, which is what makes them the most appealing to me (Fenrir/Fona being my favorite), and there are 7 of them. Like the deadly sins? No, wrong, like the Pokémon types: Fona - fire Arqua - water Ventra - wind Luxa - electric Grunda - ground mineral Neta - nature And the 7th one who is probably normal/beast type but never had a name which pisses me off so much.
Anyway, 1st game, the story is pretty close to a normal Pokémon game. Bad guys want to ruin humanity, so what do you do? You kill them, of course.
Now, the second game it's why I actually like both so much. In it, 2 more types were added: Psychic and Ghost
The game picks up a while after the first one, and your protagonist is not the same as in game 1. BUT SURPRISE YOU GET TO MEET YOUR OG PROTAGONIST
AS A GHOST
THAT'S RIGHT YOUR PAST SELF IS FUCKING DEAD And from the looks of it, it wasn't from old age.
But anyway, despite that, you get to meet the past characters too, mainly, the 6 legendaries I mentioned before (one of which was on the human's side all along, but that's a long story to explain). But they are also ghosts, because like I said, you killed them in game 1. But you're not the same protagonist from game 1 (they're dead also remember), so the 5 baddies and 1 traitor are kinda friendly to you. Mainly because the world is going to hell because massive Mons called Tyrant are wreaking havoc as they wage a war between themselves.
But that's fine, because you got a solution to that. You got your own Tyrant egg, and you can use it for good.
So you, the orphan that just almost got killed by a dragon (also long story, don't worry), can fix the world you live in by just collecting the powers of the past legendary.
Ezzey
EXCEPT
And I really think you guys should play the two games before you keep reading.
THE EGG IS WORTH SHIT BECAUSE ITS A FAKE
And all that power you were collecting? It's in you now motherfucker
Because you're not human, you are the new sovereign of the nexomon, born from the legendary of nature herself, aka your best friend from game 1.
So now you have an even better solution EXCEPT Your boss has gone a bit cray cray and has a lab-made Mon ready to kill you.
But it's fine, of course, everything ends up being fine, because this would be a very different type of game if it didn't
BUT THE KICKER IS To defeat this lab monster, who was first normal type then evolved into ghost type btw, you BECOME THE LEGENDARY OF PHYSICH AKA THE BOX ART LEGENDARY.
You kill this monster, but then you revive him (you have the power of controlling life btw, another long story) because in all of this you are just fucking 12. And as a child, you have been through so much in this game and have become the new ruler of an entire, super-powerful species of creatures. But you're also still an orphanage kid who grew up being bullied, and now you found out that you have family. And not just any family, the fucking legendary themselves.
And in the post-game, you can catch the legendaries from the previous game, and you even get a small cutscene with all of them. And then you fight and\or catch them. One of which being, your god damn mother.
AND IN MY MIND AND HEART YOU DON'T FIGHT THESE 6 YOU GET A GOD DAMN HUG BECAUSE THE KID FUCKING NEEDS IT
Thank you for coming to my insane TED Talk. I finished the second game literally 2 minutes before I started writing this.
If you like Pokémon but don't want to spend 60$ for it, go play these two games please.

"my feelings on" part 6: Actually I was the real one and why deviating too far from the og novel can sully a good story.

I think next to who made me a princess and death is the only ending for a villainess, this one is one of the most recognizable manhwas/webnovels. I haven't been able to read the full novel since the only translated site I could find had limited chapters but in short, what i did read felt like a separate story from the manhwa because whoever wrote the manhwa basically said "screw the original plot, I want fanservice." Which is why I consider it on the fanfiction side given how severe the changes were. Like if this was a Netflix original of a hardcopy book or something it would've been flamed for its lack of coherencey.
The plot centers around Keira Parvis and her desire to avoid death and get revenge on her half sister Cosette for making her life a living hell in the previous timeline. Sounds solid and good we love a revenge story. So you'd think this would be a tough but overall satisfying goal because Cosette was a world destorying level threat and therfore should be a formidable opponent right?
Well..

I think that they forgot that Cosette is actually a demon wearing a dead girls body because she is such a joke for a villian. Always getting her ass handed to her in near nonsensical ways. There are times when some changes eventually make sense such as Ludwig for some reason not trusting her as much as he did previously and then it being revealed he also regressed after Cosette began a demon/human war. But everything else just falls apart immediately. Everyone hates her except for 1 maid who gets deported and implied to be lashed, and Keira can easily trick her into falling into her traps. It's not fun anymore to see Keira and Cosette fight cause you know it's gonna end quickly with Keira being the victor.
They think this makes Keira more progressive because she can hit strong and be beloved but here's the thing: Keira was already progressive to begin with but they still managed to mess that up.
In the original source material: Keira had no love interests, Joseph was a friend who had great respect for her and Erez was a platonic relationship. In the manhwa, there's a goddamn love triangle.

Objectively I don't mind either ships since they aren't really problematic but it made no sense to make such a drastic change. Especially to a FL in a historical story that never had the need for romance to begin with.
what really got annoying was the fact that family members were pushed to the side for more filler arcs of Keira and her love triangle. Her little brother Zeke played a much larger role than he does in the manhwa and the best way to describe him in the adaptation is the type of character designed for selling marketable plushes if you know what I mean.
There were a few things I did personally like but plot wise, it wouldn't make sense. For example another change in the manhwa is that Cosette is still alive wheras in the novel she's dead. As much as I love Cosette and want to see a normal sister relationship with her and Keira it causes the title to be defunct. It's called "actually I was the real one" because the entire point was that Keira was the only living daughter of Ludwig and Cosette (who is actually a demon named Ragibach) is the fake one. So Cosette still being alive means that she is also the real one and the title no longer makes sense.
While this all stands, the manhwa itself is okay if you don't mind the inaccuracies or if you never read the webnovel. The magic system stays consistent which is nice and the characters while one note are for the most part enjoyable to follow.
Conclusion: the manhwa adaptation of Actually I was the real one is a prime example of the unnecessary meddling of an already perfectly fine story. The goal is to make girlboss empowerment stories except when that does happen in a reasonable way, the adaptations still add in love interests and even alter the characters personalities to varying levels to fulfill a fantasy which would be normal if you were just making a fanfic to post on Ao3 or wattpad, but when it's supposed to be an adaptation.. it feels straight up disrespectful.
Sorry this one's a little shorter, I really didn't have that much to discuss other then the inaccuracies since the plot alone is okay.

Thoughts on Lilo and Stitch 2025 (Spoilers)
Spoilers ahead! And heads up: I don't have very many nice things to say.
Again, I'm gonna preface this by saying what I liked. Maia Kealoha does an excellent job as Lilo. The CGI team did an awesome job with Swtitch's motion and design (can't say the same thing about Jumba and Pleakley). ...That one axolotl who really wanted to blow up the Earth was a cute bit. And Nani was pretty well acted. Okay... I'm breaking this down by character.
Lilo - Again, actress did fantastic. Lilo, to me, has always been the strongest aspect of Lilo & Stitch. Just an excellent character, easily my favorite. And she still is here. ...But they really soften out her edges. She's less of a 'weird girl'. She's just... a girl. She isn't nearly as out of control as the OG, and she's not nearly as emotional. She only really cries once in the movie. It feels like they wanted to make her tamer in an attempt to make less conflict between her and Nani.
Nani - They gave her ZERO time to bond with Stitch. No "TALK! I know you can!" moment. By the end of the movie where Nani has to save Stitch from drowning, it's not an earned relationship. Nani isn't rescuing a 'family member', she's rescuing Lilo's friend. And it's REALLY not earned when Stitch gets to call Nani his sister. But... I guess I gotta shrug that off.
And worst of all: They give Nani a 'You should be going to college instead of being a mom'. Okay... 1) Disney, what is wrong with Nani being a single mother who doesn't have a college degree and does minimum wage labor? Why is that suddenly bad? I get 'giving Nani dreams', but Nani WANTED to raise Lilo in the OG. There was never a true moment where Nani wished Lilo away.
2) Stop doing this fake ass 'we're here to be feminist' bullshit. Nani didn't need to be a woman in stem. She was already an amazing fleshed out character. There was no need to give her girl power, cause she already had it! Instead, it just makes Lilo seem like a burden to Nani! Which is a horrible message.
Stitch - Stitch is fine. He's more of an asshole in this one, somehow, but he's fine. Well animated. Adorable. If there's one good thing, I feel like they really hit the 'Oh wait, my actions just fucked up this good thing I had going, and now I'm upset about it' mark.
Pleakley - ........I know the director wanted Pleakley to be able to dress up. I saw the 'I tried' message. And it fucking sucks that we lose that with Pleakley. But instead, we get Pleakley using a device to turn himself into this weirdly gorgeous blonde man who they have a weird habit of sexualizing a bit? Like, he gets a bath scene. He wears slightly revealing outfit. There's a bit of a femme aspect to how he dresses sometimes, and he's very... submissive and petite in his mannerisms.
It's REALLY strange. Cause they went 'Oh, we can't have the trans allegory', and instead, they put this bizarrely attractive man in strange, revealing outfits that would have been a bit of a gay awakening for me as a kid. And it's like... So we're not doing gender exploration cause that's bad for kids, but we're slutting this man out a bit? What? Huh? I'm... extremely confused by this decision.
Actor didn't give a bad performance, though. I liked his Pleakley, despite it not being Pleakley.
Jumba - .....The worst fucking aspect in this movie. Listen, I MAYBE get why we didn't want to do an accent for Jumba, but Zach Galifianakis' performance is SO BAD! For a movie filled with actors I don't know, it's amazing how the number one actor I recognized was phoning it in. And I haven't even gotten to the worst part.
JUMBA IS THE MOVIE'S VILLAIN! There's no Gantu (which I get why). So, they take Jumba... an established member of the family in the cartoon movie and show... And they make him the villain. In the end, he gets arrested. And it's like... HOW DO YOU PULL SOMETHING LIKE THAT!?! It's like making Snow White, but making Grumpy the villain. What the fuck!?!
My Last and Biggest Gripe About This Movie - These live action movies are always hellbent on 'addressing criticisms of the original movie', and I get where the criticism of 'Lilo's family being protected by Galactic Law prevents her from being fostered' is a bit of a hand wave option and can seem condescending. But it's something I've always felt you can gloss over and just enjoy the movie. The LA tried to address that, BUT THIS ONE IS SO MUCH MORE OFFENSIVE!
Oh Nani! Why didn't you just ASK the old woman who lives next door to you to adopt Lilo! Why don't you, college age Nani who lost her parents while she was still a teenager, speak with your adult friends to find an alternative solution for Lilo's adoption.
Eat my ass. I'm sorry: Nani and Lilo feeling alone in the world after losing their parents feels very real, and magically adding next door neighbor grandma to solve everyone's problems? Give me a break. You took an experience of two sister's becoming a 'broken family' because their parents died, and went 'Well the family isn't actually broken, cause next door neighbor is also Ohana! So it's fine.' Like, fuck you. You erased the whole point of Nani and Lilo's pain.
God, fuck this movie...

How to Train Your Dragon Remake Review

Sighhhh..... here we go
Saw the movie with @klypsolworks btw!
The first thing I thought once the credits began to roll was......... nobody on Tumblr is ever gonna respect me again lmao.
So with that in mind! In no particular order!
Um....... movie good............. yeah.............. sorry
Okay it's not httyd 1. Of course. Duh. But it's pretty close. Most scenes are shot-for-shot exactly the same. And it doesn't suffer a whole lot from that thing that The Lion King remake did where the actors just.... don't emote or whatever. Ya know, when you're watching a remake of a beloved scene but it looks like a bunch of dolls are just being bounced around a bad and awkward set? It was actually pretty good! A lot of the actors were just good. My biggest problem was actually just Astrid. She was... a brick wall. I don't think I can imagine a single look of fear, anger, nothing. I don't even know if she smiled.
Astrid as a character though was some of the only places of actual change. And I think those changes were good changes. There were scenes in the OG that always felt weird to me. Her line of "Our parents' war is about to become ours. Figure out which side your on" felt weird to me in the OG, considering Astrid, at the time, had no indication that Hiccup was apologetic to dragons. Around others, he just seemed like a coward and aloof about dragon training. Clearly wasn't trying. Her line made sense to the audience, but I felt like it didn't make sense for Astrid to say that. That is given its own context in this one! Hiccup, before reading the Book of Dragons, tells Astrid about how maybe humans are a part of the problem. She also confesses that she is jealous of Hiccup's privileged status as the chief's son; he is allowed to be weak and useless because of his status, unlike her and everyone else in the village who have to be more engaged with their own safety and future. I really liked it and felt it was important to add!
The movie looks really good. I'm sorry y'all who are counting Toothless' fkn scales or whatever and saying it looks like dogshit. It really doesn't. The dragons do not look the way they do in the OG. I wish the nadders were fat. Nightmares kinda look almost normal and not goofy (because the visual style of more realistic. Duh). I was the most disappointed in the gronckles, but I've grown to love it. They're still goofy tubby babies. The thing I was really paying attention to was how it looked when the characters interacted with CGI, which often looks fucking terrible. Maybe I would notice problems upon rewatching, but I didn't see anything. Puppetry is always better, but it all felt good for the scenes. The actors felt grounded for the most part.
I know for a fact that they did amazing color and lighting studies for this movie to make sure it actually matched the OG. Because it really does. Every single scene has almost the exact same scheme as the OG. It's actually shocking. Every lamp and rock is perfect. It doesn't suffer much from that oversaturated thing that a lot of CGI heavy movies have (Jurassic World was the worst offender. Most action movies are pretty bad about not having an actual color scheme and they just make it 12pm at the equator bright or a full moon all the time).
Toothless looks like Toothless. Not perfect 1:1 but it's Toothless. This is coming from a person who made night fury drawing tutorials when they were 15. (my biggest problem with his design is actually his wings but that's a whole thing) I thought the flying scenes were fine despite the differences in camera work. It worked for what it did. Not as good as OG but it did a good job with what it wanted to accomplish.
The movie does suffer somewhat from a lack of that animated spark, as many remakes do, but it isn't so bad that it's insulting to me. The Lion King was so fucking bad it made me wonder why they even made the movie realistic, or at all, if they were going to animate the lions with an abnormal lack of emotion. Toothless, especially, isn't comically animated anymore. He doesn't nod or give those obviously disapproved looks the way he did in the OG. But again, it doesn't ruin it for me. I think the biggest problem I had was that when Toothless got his first tail, he didn't sit to feel the new tail. He just kind of..... gets up and flies. No real emotion is expressed about it. He similarly doesn't look down at Hiccup in disapproval before throwing him off, he just kind of goes "ugh" before throwing him off. (the way Hiccup screamed in joy after that first flight felt so legit I loved it lmao)
Snotlout.... y'all gotta know I'm delusional about Snotlout. I love him and he's one of my favorite side characters. He's an idiot. He's nuanced. He has a complicated relationship with his father. Me and him would be best fucking friends if I lived in Berk. And let me tell y'all this actor put his WHOLE PUSSY into this performance. Knocked it out of the fucking park. I felt like someone read my mind exactly for how I personally view Snotlout and did him justice. He literally catepults himself over a table toward the camera knocking shit off so he can talk to Hiccup at one point. I was rolling out of my fucking fancy lounger. Everyone else in the gang feels pretty good too. The twins don't really look like twins but it's mentioned as a joke. Hiccup and Fishlegs are shown to be quick friends once the barrier to the group is broken down.
Idk exactly why but the ending felt SO good. Maybe it was because they slowed down pretty heavily when the village was mourning Hiccup. They also slowed down the scene where Toothless is helping Hiccup out of bed. Everything was quite slowed toward the end. The colors felt even better. The scenes felt so good. I remember watching that outro "this is Berk" scene and.... I felt like I was just watching my beloved characters in a different lens. Call it "useless nostalgia" but it was one of the few moments where I was able to properly forget I was watching a remake and I wasn't comparing it constantly anymore. I was just having a good time. THAT is what I wanted the most. I wanted to forget I was watching a remake. I wanted to stop comparing scenes and line delivery, especially because I knew it didn't matter.
I was in the same camp as the rest of you originally. "this movie is just another derivitive cash grab remake!" I thought to myself. I blindly accepted that my beloved story would be reread to audiences that don't care about movies for any reason other than the fact that they need to keep their kids entertained for 2 hours. I changed my mind and decided to watch it for a few reasons: the director of the OG movies directs this one too. I've watched MANY interviews with him about these movies, and he has a deep passion for these movies. He puts his pain, insecurities, and struggles into his movies so he can watch a hero overcome them. His creative drive and vision is inspiring to me. Any story of his intrigues me. I wanted to know if he had something to say with this movie. The second big reason came when I was at work and noticed our Lilo and Stitch merch and our httyd merch next to each other. These two movies were released at around the same time. And Dean DeBlois directed every one of these OG movies. He left Disney soon after directing OG Lilo and Stitch. I couldn't help but wonder if httyd was a response to Disney's inevitable money grab botch of his work. Even if all it was was Dreamworks asking DeBlois to do a movie in response to Lilo and Stitch, that has a mountain of personal implications alone. Even if I don't support remakes overall, I do support being hateful and spiteful to Disney. Might add more later idk! I'm just ready for a quarter of my followers to block me after this because that's exactly what happened when I said I didn't hate httyd3 hehe :33

I'm gonna ramble about Toph for a minute
So, to be upfront I didn't watch the first season of the Live Action ATLA, bc once you get on Mike and Dante's bad side in terms of Avatar media, I'm out. I'm sure season 1 is fine, but just want to be clear that I didn't watch season 1 and have no plans to watch season 2.
We've gotten confirmed casting for Toph, which as one of the most beloved characters, was very heavily discussed and anticipated. Miya Cech was cast as Toph, and by virtue of her age (she very recently turned 18) is portraying a slightly aged up version of the character. I don't necessarily have huge issues with the ATLA characters being slightly aged up as long as age dynamics are maintained. Meaning everyone has to be aged up the same amount. I remember the rumors that Katara was going to be older than Sokka, and that would have DRASTICALLY changed their dynamic. and I do maintain consistent concern that when you are aging up specifically female characters to be older it's because you intend to sexualize them.
Here it does seem like her being older is a bit more related to the difficulty of containing the og ATLA storyline to it's original timeline of like a year or so. So in order to have Toph's age match Aang's as the actors themselves age throughout the filming, I would get that and be fine with it. Her overall character arc is not one that I think requires her being 12 at the start. Though we don't have specific confirmation of Toph's age in the story, so she could be playing 13/14 or true to the actress's age. (My hope is that it's not that large of a jump, and that it stays in line with Aang's age in the series.)
But to get into the femininity thing, which was everyone's big issue with the quote- I would say it depend on exactly what they mean by that. A lot of people very specifically brought up that the few times we see Toph dressed more 'feminine' are when she's with her parents, and then to attend the party in Ba Sing Se, where she is restricted in her ability to do or say what she wants. I would agree that those outfit designs are more feminine in that they specifically reference traditionally feminine styles of clothing from the cultures that influenced the Earth Kingdom, but more specifically they are rich people clothes. They are elaborate, layered, and likely physically heavy with embroidery or detail, because they are intended to convey wealth by showing that they have the ability to afford to purchase or commission that type of clothing. Her preference for a less elaborate style, to me, was more related to her ability to be more physically independent in that clothing. The elaborate outfits are literally restrictive, especially when combined with her disability. They also inhibit her physical range of motion for bending.
We've seen that other characters can be feminine and dress in feminine styles that don't interfere with their bending or physical movement, like Katara, Ty Lee and Suki.
Ty Lee I think is an excellent example of that. She not only dresses more feminine in terms of style, but also dresses in what is modernly considered a very feminine color. While there's not really a lot in the way of masculine or feminine colors within the ATLA universe, where instead each nation has a traditional color palette, Ty Lee does very specifically stand apart in her pink, as opposed to the darker red, black, and gold of the Fire Nation.
This feeds into my next point in that, in many ways, the concept of a feminine style in the ATLA universe is based around visual aesthetics, and because it's visual, Toph just doesn't have much interest in it. We know externally that blind women can and do care about the aesthetics of their clothing and how they present to the world, but they also often have to put function over fashion, especially in regards to maintaining independence. It's doable and even desirable to wear vaguely ridiculous high heels when you know you're going to have a person next to you helping you navigate, but when you're just trying to walk from the bus stop to the store on potentially shoddily-maintained sidewalks, sneakers or just flats in general are going to be a better option. But this is where the character being initially developed by men feels relevant, because i do think for them it was as simple as "I can't see it, so I don't care about it."
Her age also factors into it for me. I didn't really get interested in 'being feminine' until I was like 13/14 years old. I would wear skirts on occasion, and I did like them, but the whole sort of process to looking 'girly' wasn't something I enjoyed until I was a teen. that was when the process and final results of braiding my hair into specific styles became something I found interesting or rewarding. That was when I started to be more interested in following trends, and such, so a 12 year old Toph not really caring much about the clothing she wears beyond it's utility make a lot of sense to me.
Additionally, if you apply that concept of femininity to her behavior, it becomes more apparent to me that in a lot of way putting off being feminine was a lot more about rebellion. Because there is kind of the running joke within Book 2 of her being very gross, but it does feel more like that was an overcorrection to put off the very narrow expectations of her parents, which was based not only on her gender, but also her status as a noble. We don't see nearly as much of that in Book 3, which would indicate that it's not really a permanent aspect of her personality.
We don't see it very clearly, in fact I struggled to find a good shot of it, but in the finale when we get that final scene of the gAang, Toph is wearing a more formal, and arguably feminine outfit, but it's still not to the extreme of what we had seen when we first meet her. It's a balance, specifically for a formal moment, but I think it more clearly shows how she would choose to dress in moments when she wants to dress up. And really, even the choice of clothing for the Ba Sing Se party is both feminine and toned down from the general opulence of Toph's daily wear for staying in her own home.
I would say that the biggest point people have brought forward is the story from Tales of Ba Sing Se, where we see Katara and Toph engage in 'traditionally feminine' activities like the spa, having their hair & makeup done, and her sort of rejecting it after encountering the Earth Kingdom mean girls on the bridge. But the activities and all are something she enjoys and has fun doing in the moment, because she's doing them with Katara. Even if she might not choose to do them on her own, she doesn't demean their value. And her anger and sadness at the words of the other girls is more about not really having friends who knew and liked her for who she is. Toph's journey starts with her wanting recognition from her parents as someone who has value and ambition beyond what they want for her. It becomes her truly recognizing her value, and that the people who really matter also recognize it.
But the very last part of that scene is Katara validating Toph's desire to feel pretty. Women like to feel pretty. Our value should never be based upon our physical appearance, but we can still want to feel pretty. Katara's compliment would be meaningless if we didn't also know that she values and loves Toph as a entire person.
So I don't have any particular issue with a live action adaptation and this actress portraying Toph as more feminine than we've seen, because I don't think it's entirely outside of her character. But it does all come down to how exactly that change is portrayed through either styling or the story. I just think it's disingenuous to act like she fully has no interest in appearing feminine, when I feel that's patently not true. It's just that she wants to be judged on her skills and abilities first, and never relegated to the sidelines because she's a noble, a woman, or disabled.
I feel like this could be laid out better, because I don't really feel like it flows, but it is what it is.

quick Heretic ask if you don't mind - I'm developing a similar kind of 1:1 campaign and my partner doesn't particularly like combat - do you think the 3-2-1 system you mentioned using would be amenable, given it's often over quickly, or does it require too much tactical thinking for someone who sort of just wants to get it over with? Second, maybe I missed it in the OG post where you explained it, but how do you determine how many D10s a character gets? TYSM! Game seems super cool.
I designed Heretic's combat system for my wife, who always hated combat and just wanted to get it over with. Now she loves it! So I definitely recommend it.
The number of d10s your player gets to roll comes directly from their stats (for Heretic, and Emily's character Bastian, 90% of the time that's a Fitness+Swords check). Bastian has Fitness 5 and Swords 4 (I think), so he gets nine dice to roll. If he doesn't want to swing his sword, and just wants to use magic, it's a Charisma+Occult check.
It's only as tactical a system as you make it. Emily now runs Bastian + a party of 3 NPCs, all of whom have different abilities, stances, spells, armor, & weapons, and she manages just fine, but we've been playing Heretic for ages. When we started, the party Emily controlled was just Bastian and his squire, Volo, neither of them knew any magic yet, neither of them had more than 7 dice to spend on a roll, and they used the same equipment loadout, so it was extremely simple. I can recommend starting with something like that, and scaling up complexity over time.
The dice also determine how complex a given turn will be. Like, if you roll your dice and you just get a pair of 7s, cool. Bastian does 3 levels of damage to his chosen target and it's on to the next character's turn. If you roll a pair of 2s, s pair of 5s, a pair of 8s, and a pair of 10s, then he gets a dodge level, he gets to do a maneuver, he gets a 2nd degree spellcast, and he deals critical damage. But you need quite a large dice pool before you'll start seeing outcomes like that with any regularity.
If you're only rolling 6-7 dice, you'll usually get one pair, and on a lucky roll you'll get two. When you start getting dice pools of 10+ dice, things start to get complicated, but you shouldn't have that many dice to roll until you've been playing the game for a while, and leveled up quite a bit, by which point your player will hopefully be comfortable with the system.

altering clothes part 2: the dye batch
this one took a while because i've had to redye some clothes and honestly, dyeing clothes takes a lot longer than people think, lol.
project 1: lace duster #1
i dyed this wayyy back in 2022, and i've been pleased with it since. i wanted to see if i could get it a little darker, so i redyed it. no dice, but that's fine
here's the before and after. definitely hard to tell a difference!

project 2: lace duster #2
unfortunately my lace dusters are made of polyester, and it is so hard to dye polyester black. most of my stuff is grey, but honestly, i don't really mind it! adds a little bit more value changes into my wardrobe.
this is one that i kept white for a few years, but finally went through and dyed it. i actually dyed it twice, because the first dye job looked a little patchy... and when i redyed it, it was the same shade of grey. that's fine. called it quits here!
beginning -> first dye -> second dye. i think it looks a little patchy on camera, but in person it looks fine.

project 3: lace duster #3
i thrifted this along with a dress in 2023 and i kept it the og color for over a year, even after i lost the dress (WORST EVER. IF ANYONE IS GOOD AT IDENTIFYING AND FINDING CLOTHING PLEASEEEEEE HELP ME). the off white color doesn't match any of my clothes, so i finally pulled the plug and dyed it black. this one took the dye a lot better! there were also a few rips in the duster, mainly in the armpit and at the corners of the seams, so i went ahead and fixed that with my machine.
before -> after
project 4: layering piece? bunny thing?
i got this from a clothing swap in columbus last month. i'm unsure exactly what its used for, but i figured it would be a good layering piece for corporate jobs-- over button ups and long sleeves, and under skirts or pants. it was a little too vibrant for my liking though, so i dyed it a little darker. it ended up being the exact shade i wanted! not too bad for someone who's botched two dye jobs so far in this post.
project 5: pink shirt
i also got this pink shirt at the clothing swap, and wanted it darker. i dyed it a few times to try and get it as dark as possible, but messed it up a little. i first did a black dye bath, which got it to a spanish grey color. i then did a green dye bath, because people recommend online to do complementary colors to darken polyester pieces. i used too much green, so it ended up being a darker green shade. i then tried to dye it with black again but it didn't take very much color, so she's green now :) i don't have anything green in my wardrobe, so i'm excited to try her out! she would probably make a good piece for a dusk (hex girls) cosplay, haha
its hard to take photos of this shirt because its quite shiny. and also im not a photographer. so, please excuse the awful photo quality
project 6: red skirt
you guessed it, another piece from the clothing swap. this skirt was super vibrant irl, the cameras don't do it justice. i wanted to tone it down just a little bit, so i dyed it in some red dye to try and make it a little darker. its pretty subtle, but it does just look a little splotchy, but thats nbd and i still like it.
project 7: an old dye project
final dye batch project!... for now. i dyed this shirt back in 2024 immediately after i thrifted it. it was a pastel teal color, which i don't wear, but i liked the design. again, like other synthetic pieces, this one dyed into a grey color. i redyed it a few times alongside other pieces-- black twice, and then red (to call back to the complementary color thing--except i used red instead of orange because i'm cheap and didn't want to buy orange dye), and then black again. and... it looks basically the same. that's fine though. i still love wearing it!
the pictures don't do it justice, but they look basically the exact same. idk why the final one looks lighter than the og. its not.

good lord. i'm so glad to get these pieces out of my alter pile and back into my wardrobe. my alter pile is slowly but surely shrinking!

7.) If you were asked who are in BSD that you can see based on canon that are gay/bi/pan/demi/ace/aro/etc which characters are they?
Thanks if you want to answer 🍀
wait, is this an actual thing, anon?!

1.) Who are 3 characters from BSD that really describe you (despite you don't really like them, maybe)?
This one's a bit hard, because I feel like on a more surface level I relate to Dazai. And I think that's why I gravitated to him as my favorite character. The apathy, struggling to fit in with others, mental health struggles, masking. When I first got into bsd I was in a pretty bad spot, but I'm actually in a really good place now, so I'd say I still relate to the fact he likes joking around with others. Also, Chuuya because the short people problems are real and I have a friend irl who completely dwarves me and makes fun of me for it. 🫠 I'm also more of a wine drinker myself and I like being stylish! And third, I think Louisa! Even though I have to be super bubbly and outgoing in my job, I'm still awkward and shy with meeting and talking to people. And I also can get easily flustered. She's also a fellow coffee lover.
2.) Which character that you dislike but you just love their designs?
Another hard one. I don't really have many characters I actually dislike in bsd. Pushkin is one of them, and Ace is another, and Professor N, but that's honestly about it? Everyone else I'm either neutral/have no strong feelings toward, or like. But I guess I'll go with Ace for a cool design but a character I don't really care for.
3.) Which character that you love but you just dislike their designs?
Dislike is a bit strong for me to use. Atsushi's hair took a while to grow on me. I know why he has that haircut, of course, but I found it oddly distracting specifically in the anime. I really love his BEAST design though, having the shorter, sharper fringe. I also think Chuuya looks a lot better without his hat.
4.) If you must choose, which 'super power' that you want for yourself from BSD? Why?
My initial response was to say Chuuya's ability, because his gravity can be used in a lot of situations that aren't combat-related, but I wouldn't also want the Corruption that comes with it, sooo. UH. Maybe Oda's or Nikolai's? I'd like to be able to predict if something was about to happen to me, like a freak accident, and be able to avoid it, but Nikolai's is also nifty for teleporting. Gee, now Poe's sounds fun but I'd feel bad trapping people in my stories because they're usually angsty.
5.) Do you have any personal favorite head canons from BSD?
Dazai being touch-starved and emotionally constipated.
Though Dazai used to complain about how spicy curry was, he grew to like it because of Oda.
When Chuuya's in a good mood, he likes to hum to himself or repeat a song that's stuck in his head.
Before Atsushi started making some money at the ADA, he raided the employee fridge for food in a pinch and got caught by Kunikida.
6.) If BSD og characters switch place with BSD beast AU, do you think they can survive? Why?
Most of them are already in BEAST and did just fine. I actually think their BEAST selves would be more prepared for Fyodor's machinations because it doesn't matter about Dazai switching, he still has premonition of the other world and knows what Fyodor's plans are well in advance before they've even been put into motion. BEAST bsd characters would likely have had a way better chance of defeating Fyodor sooner before he got to where he was now.
7.) If you were asked who are in BSD that you can see based on canon that are gay/bi/pan/demi/ace/aro/etc which characters are they?
I headcanon Sigma as aroace. I just see him as someone who wants to go to work, do what he has to do, and that's it. He doesn't seem very invested in others beyond anything platonically. I'd also probably put Ranpo in that category. Ranpo doesn't mind making friends, but I feel like that's all he sees others as.
I'm not going to touch on Dazai, because I think he's a bit of an odder case. And also because my theories about this are actually incredibly dark. But Dazai doesn't have any qualms about using his body to get what he wants, and he's shown that in the manga. That's more of a mafia thing, though, and part of his manipulation. Him not valuing himself even extends to his body: he doesn't see intimacy as something to connect with someone or bond over, it's just another tool. I don't know about natural attraction, but he'll force himself to act attracted to someone if it'll get him what he wants.

Good morning Kendy! As promised here's my update so far on DMC (it's pretty long so I apologize): the anime was good as a blind watcher, but after watching some of the games I'm starting to understand why OG fans were frustrated. All the DMC content I've consumed so far has really good soundtracks. I've watched DMC 1 Gameplay and I'm halfway through DMC 3.
DMC 1 has really good stage designs and unique mobs. I understand it was early 2000s so there wasn't a lot of dialogue which did make it a little slow at some times but all-in-all I could tell there was passion behind it, so I watched it all the way through. I was a bit tickled at the random romance they placed between Dante and Trish, but once again, early 2000s.
DMC 3 so far has been pretty good as well. It's definitely a bit goofy/corny but in a charming way. The brothers are literally on two separate ends of the cornball spectrum LOL. I like this version of Lady so far (not that I *didn't* like the Netflix Anime Version). The soundtracks have been pretty good and I like the unique fighting styles you can choose.
I can see why you like Dante so much, unfortunately I have a thing for the broody types so Vergil and Lady are right up my alley. If you don't mind me asking, what DMC content do you recommend? - ⏳️
morning baby!! welcome back! hope monday is treating you well so far.
so i have a lot of opinions about dmc netflix one being that i dont think that dumb son of a bitch who made it (i hate him so much im crying...let me not...) but i dont think he's ever even played a dmc game he just likes the aesthetics. which would be fine if he'd like done one glance over the wikis and like managed to get even a waft of their personalities and what they're really like. i didn't care much for dmc netflix lady because it just didn't feel like her. but that's just me! a lot of people liked it.
dmc1 is fun! it's like the perfect mix of camp and serious imo. it develops dante pretty well as goofy but big hearted and well meaning.
now dmc3 is so ridiculous and that little leather breast banded derelict...i cant talk about it right now. you are just incredibly correct about them being on two opposite ends of the cornball spectrum. just two 19 year old boys taking themselves wayyyy too seriously.
this video is honestly really good and he came back and corrected some incorrect things in the comments because this universe is so canonically unserious it's hard to keep your facts straight but it's very like this is what happens. i found it very useful when i first dipped a toesie woesie.
also i love a vergil lover <333 i know yall have hearts of gold. he deserves and needs that very much so fingers crossed you continue to enjoy him!!!

I ramble about headcanons while reading the artbook:
Here are my notes::
So idk if peeps talk about it but timeline wise I'm going to assume brozone's last concert had to be before the bergen fully captured the trolls.
I'm mainly basing this on the art work from the artbook, as well as how it would make sense how easily the older brothers could just walk off and live their own lives. Given previously with the whole bergen town surrounding the tree, and the only actual safe way out had to be a tunnel they were digging potentially not even ready yet.
So I would assume say a month at least after they left the bergen took over. Which could also play into all of them thinking the other was dead/captured and simply couldn't risk coming back even if they wanted too.
John dory returning when he had more experience and got "floyd's" letter. But for the most part genuinely was fine on his own. Maybe wanting to at least open communications back with his family.
Clay having found his way to Viv (I REFUSE to entertain the thought that he was with them when escaping just didn't contact branch or grandma)
I don't think floyd was even CLOSE to the tree to know. I imagine he did do a solo career but everything was so big and trolls being cared about wasn't till later. Which plays into that image of him playing alone in some alley on mount rageous.
Bruce traveled and maybe sent out a letter that never got received and found himself starting a new life and having kids.
I DIDN'T KNOW BRIDGET AND KING GRISTLE WERE IN THEIR MID TO LATE 20S HUUUHHH
I thought they were at MOST early 20s. Huh. Makes me wonder about the life spans of bergen.
I like to think outside bergen long since learned they don't have to eat trolls to be happy.
I need the extra of Viv consoling Poppy. Cause I need that.
I also need poppy and branch talking about sense of being left by siblings. How branch is still upset but dammit he's just as happy to be around them and singing with them again. How poppy just found a sibling who filled that unknown/forgotten side of her and having to potentially give a family member up. How now she understands branches hesitant to be involved with John dory at the start, etc etc.
I need more solo songs from the brothers. I need those scenes where they're bonding again. (Idk if you can tell but I want a TV series for the movie like the others).
I NEED backstop of the brother's parents and just WHERE are they if we're going with the before the bergen's theory.
I think it's funny before floyd and Branch were born. That Bruce was the middle child to probably dory's older brother and Clay's younger brother shenanigans. And then Clay becomes a middle child himself but not the peace maker kind lmao.
I need to see and hear that talk the sisters have with king peppy. Cause that whole side scene where he feels guilty was NOT enough.
I have this idea that what positivity was to branch in movie 1 is what being silly is to clay. Like it's not that they hate it but being taken serious and not always that one thing is a nice breath of fresh air. And maybe Viv had been someone who was able to welcome both sides for clay.
Branch is a poet idc what anyone says. He doesn't write anything bit he has his moments.
Also Poppy being a Clay stan idc idc idc
I LOVE SEEING MORE TYPES OF TROLLS. especially interesting when they don't seem like the typical singing ones!
Mount outrageous being a place without a single adult is... I have several questions on that. Whether that stayed in the final movie or not....
Concepts of the bergens remind me of old og Shrek designs.
Floyd not just being the more emotionally mature one is nice, he's also generally intelligent and clever/witty (from the artbook). Also, his style being confirmed emo is funny to me. Like, yeah, the hair is obvious, but now it gives me the pass to draw him wearing SO many cool/interesting outfits.
Creek concepts have me feeling annoyed at the fact that yeah... I can see it.
MOVING ON-
#trolls 3#trolls band together#I have very clear favorites#no but seriously what happened to the bois parents if branch was the last kid?????#also a bestie joked about branch being floyd's twin but was a late hatching will not leave my head idk#i ADORE broppy so much#I love that branch doesnt stay overly saturated showing that while hes healing that deep depression doesnt just go away#trolls floyd#trolls branch#trolls john dory#trolls clay#trolls bruce#trolls viva#trolls king peppy

Lore Olympus Tumblr Reaction [1-4]
I've never read it before, but I keep getting criticism youtube videos recommended to me, and webtoon advertisements for it, so I'm reading it now and sharing my thoughts with you, my fellow tumblr losers <3
Also I do know a chunk of simplified Greek myth, Persephone gets kidnapped by horny ass Hades which obviously pisses off her mother Demeter who searches for her & neglects her duties as Goddess of the Harvest. But when she finds Persephone, she has already eaten 6 pomegranate seeds and is now tethered to Hades' underworld for 6 months a year. And during those months she's with her husband we have winter + autumn, But when she's chilling with her mother we get Spring + Summer. I know a bunch other myths but I definitely won't claim to be an accurate expert so I'll probably be looking up names/words if I need to.
I usually enjoy trashy online media [Example: Helluva Boss] while still seeing the obvious issues with the writing, so I doubt I'll hate it all that much despite the problems. But I will still be posting small criticisms, things I love, things I don't love and a few predictions for what happens next in the story. Now, let's get into this, "modern retelling" of the Hades Persephone myth!
Please, no spoilers!
Episode 1: Stag, You're it
Ok first things first, this art is beautiful 😍

Like ZOO WEE Minthe <3 All of the girls so far look amazing 👏🏾
Minthe is rejecting the main love interest, Hades, on a date to the panathenaea [A festival for Athena] Strange for Minthe to be all red, since in the myths she gets turned into the Mint plant by Demeter after being catty to Persephone, but maybe Lore Olympus will be changing it up or it just won't happen in thus story. I've heard people say this webcomic not really all that accurate to the og myths.
So Hades goes stag & Hera immediately greets him. She's also racist/classist to Minthe which makes sense, most God's are disrespectful as fuck to the majority of non-gods. But then Zeus pulls up and they're surprisingly lovely dovey on some Disney's Hercules vibes.

I was SO surprised by Zeus' design, he's purple? Not yellow like his wife?? It's definitely gonna be hard to remember that the PURPLE guy is Zeus, but whatever, maybe it's to make him look like thunder clouds or because purple is a royal color and he's king of the gods. Whatever.
We switch to see Artemis & Persephone getting ready, and Artemis is BEAUTIFUL, especially with her violet-black hair 🖤💜 And here's the main character Persephone, the pink face girl who's been hijacking my YouTube recommendations. What a cutie 💓

Episode 2: Who is She?
Artemis has dressed up Persephone in a up-to-waterline dress with her ass about five seconds away from saying peekaboo. Total downgrade imo Persephone does NOT know how to move in that thing lol.

We get more beautiful artwork of the party.

And then there's this hilarious scene where Poseidon is beefing with Odysseus, which I'm conflicted on because I want to laugh, but wdym that's Poseidon?? I guess Hades already had the color dark blue so it's not that bad, the sea can often be green so it's fine. But then we have this pose by Persephone and I'm laughing again, why she look like that 😂

But don't worry the artist makes up for it in the next drawings as Hades is immediately enamored by her beauty. Also I love her hair in the first image <3 It kinda changes in the next panels but whatever, I'm not too surprised by the lack of consistency since it's a webtoon.

Episode 3: Who is She? [Part 2]
Artemis helps her friend up and tells off Odysseus, and looks so fucking amazing while doing it <3

Meanwhile Hades puts on glasses just so he can simp better.

Hades gets told she's the Goddess of Spring and just moved out from her mom to the city.. And then he says this dumb shit:

...Hades you fool. That's like, #1 thing that gets you fucked up is comparing anyone to Aphrodite. Now Aphrodite's gonna have to fuck up the whole damn party because Hades can't keep his pervy mouth shut.

This episode ends with Aphrodite calling in back up so she can start ruining lives. The texts with her son, Eros, are hilarious. It's giving Prince Charming & the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2.

Episode 4: Who is She [Part 3]
So Zeus plays wingman & gets Artemis away from Persephone and we get these 2 hilarious comics. I really like Zeus playing wingman because I'm pretty sure Hades had asked Zeus permission to marry her before he kidnapped her, the jerks. Also I love Artemis <3 Aroace queen <3 [I'm aegosexual/greyromantic btw, so I guess that explains why I'm obsessed with her lol 😅]

And here comes Eros all like, "Don't be suspicious, don't be suspicious"
He is VERY suspicious looking imo don't touch her! Bad touch Eros!

So Hades is upset cuz Eros beat him on creeping up on Persephone and now he dont know where she went. And then we see Persephone getting roofied by Eros! Total bastard! And it's really pitiful reading Persephone's thoughts about how she wonders where Artemis is, she's uncomfortable & dizzy, her words are blurred and she feels lonely 💔 Eros when I catch you 🗡

So she passes out and wakes up in what I'm guessing is Hades' bed because of the cerberus dog on the wall. She don't where she is. Probably kidnapped 💔

ANYWAYS Tumblr says I can't add anymore images so I'm ending this post here at Ep 4. Persephone did nothing but mind her business and got kidnapped, per usual.
I'm going to assume their romance will play out Beauty & the Beast style where the imprisoned woman teaches the perverted jerk how to not be a perverted jerk. Let's see!

Thoughts on the media my f/os are from!
The MCU kinda sucks these days. The last good thing they put out was GotG Vol. 3, and you know that was all Gunn. Granted, the series's highs are still very high—Iron Man, Avengers 1, all the Captain America movies, Thor 1, Thor Ragnarok, the Guardians trilogy—and there is occasionally some good. And of course I have a soft spot for the Hawkeye tv show. It was good!
The Legend of Zelda is still one of my fave series, and while I did enjoy Tears of the Kingdom on initial playthrough...man, this game sucks. And not even in a bad game way; it's just so derivative. Which like, yeah, sequel literally built off the back of BotW, but there's no innovation. It has all the issues BotW had, but worse. Like, I'm biased of course, but Purah's redesign is legit one of the best things about the game. Like, it's not bad, I like it, but man...and the story! Jeez, what a waste of time...
ENA is weird cause like, I knew about, then my friend showed me it, and I thought it was neat. Still a cool idea and such. It's just I kinda joined when the "original" Ena was ending and stuff with DreamBBQ was starting. My pref is still towards OG Ena, but I'm excited to see where Joel G takes things.
I have an interesting relationship with Sonic the Hedgehog; I don't play his games too often, but I love the lore, and side material like the comics and shows. Sonic Lost World is not a game I played, but I heard negative things about. Basically a Mario Galaxy clone...but Mario Galaxy is good, no? Considered by many one of the best games of all time? I dunno. The main thing is the Deadly Six...like I love Zeena, naturally, but the others. Eh...neutral. There's a reason my sona is Mobian and not zeti lol.
I was originally gonna watch the One Piece anime, but I eventually decided to go with the manga cause I heard it was paced better, plus I always wanted to read manga. Overall, I like it! It's very good. Simple at points, yet powerful too. I just wish Oda was a lil less horny, or at least reeled back the likes of Sanji and Brook. And drew women differently. And fixed Usopp's design. Yeh. Aside from that, it's good.
I haven't played Overwatch! I just think Sombra and D. Va are pretty. Mei, too. And Venture is kinda snazzy. It looks fine. Blizzard sucks but you knew that.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was my first real anime (outside of like the Pokemon anime), and it was good! David Productions really nailed the art style and colors, especially the color choices! Might check out the manga some day, but very excited for Part 7 to be animated!
Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur is the perfect show to watch if you're a Marvel fan and fed up with the MCU. Creative, striking, and actually progressive when Disney isn't banning episodes like the morons they are. I need to watch a few more episodes, but the show is VERY good. Track down that banned one if ya can, it is WORTH it!
I've been a fan of Five Nights at Freddy's since I was a wee lad...never played an entry lol. Yeh I was more into the lore with MatPat, Dawko, 8-Bit Ryan, Razzbowski, those guys. It was fun! I still enjoy it but it def fell to the back burner. The movie was good, prob gonna see the sequel.
For the record I would totally give Danganronpa a chance, but ugh I just cannot do visual novels. There's just not enough "game" for me, if ya get me. No shade to people who do enjoy em, more power to ya. Just not for me. From the gameplay of 1, 2 and V3 I've seen...seems okay. Outdated at parts, and kinda on the nose with its 'hope v despair' theme, but each seems a solid mystery with a colorful cast.
I was late on the train for Kid Icarus: Uprising, but damn when I hoped on, did NOT regret it. Some of the greatest writing, voice acting, voice direction, story, and characters yet to be put to a single Nintendo game! The greatest come back for ANY Nintendo franchise! Gameplay is kinda standard but plays well. A sequel would be nice, but honestly a port to the Switch would be lovely as well.
For five bucks, Pseudoregalia is a steal. N64/PS1-looking 3D metroidvania with great music and solid controls. Plus the main character is my wife. I've been meaning to finish it, but I've been busy...will one day tho!
Indigo Park is another game I haven't played, BUT I did watch MarKatoto play through all of chapter 1, so that counts right? Anyways, cute looking game. Charming. Nice atmosphere. It doesn't feel like it's trying to crib FNAF's style, which is to its benefit. I have high hopes for the game moving forward, especially when compared to slop like BanBan, yuck.
The Mario + Rabbids games, both Kingdom Battle and Sparks of Hope, are the most not-me games I ended up likely. XCOM-esque real time strategy where Mario crosses over with Ubisoft's Rabbids? But it works! I still need to play the DLCs all the way through, but again...busy! Maybe some day...
The Wild Robot truly is a triumph. A phenomenal film with gorgeous animation, amazing voice work, a simple yet effective story, and just an air of coziness to it. It's a nice film. Can Chris Sanders just direct every movie from now on?
I got into Doki Doki Literature Club when mascot horrors were in their peak. Ya know, Hello Neighbor, Bendy, Tattletail, that stuff. Again, like FNAF and Indigo Park, I never played it myself, but seen it played enough to know it well. Maybe it doesn't have the best presentation or execution, but I still feel it's effective at what it's trying to do, all while still having a lovely cast of characters and a very cute art style. Would check out DDLC+, but again...visual novels.
Pokémon...ugh. What a franchise. Most profitable franchise in the world, backed by one of the most beloved and successful gaming companies of all time, all to releases, well...Scarlet & Violet on release day. Gen 7 was the last game I considered good, and maybe I'm biased. Last game you could have every mon in. At the very least, I still love the series for its ideas and designs, and I am looking forward to Legends Z-A. Legends Arceus was surprisingly good, so with how long Z-A is taking, not to mention FINALLY being the long coveted third Kalos game, I'm hopeful.
